Volunteering for Everybody Eats
March 12, 2020
Recently our PaperPak New Zealand team headed to Everybody Eats to learn firsthand how this initiative is addressing food waste and hunger.
With the tag line ‘feeding bellies, not bins’, this Kiwi concept was founded by Nick Loosley after he'd seen other initiatives around the world looking to save food destined for landfill.
Everybody Eats serves restaurant quality meals, where diners can ‘pay as they feel’, allowing for a range of diners with different circumstances to connect over food.
Assisting with cooking and serving, our team worked with regular volunteers of Everybody Eats to understand their philosophy and mission.
“Looking to address food waste, food poverty and social isolation, Everybody Eats has established pay as you feel restaurants, supported by volunteers” Edward Bridgman – Customer Sales & Service said.
“A team of us volunteered to support their Onehunga location.
“It was great to see a commitment to turning surplus food into incredible meals.
“And a good experience to meet some of the diners and share stories over food.
“The initiative is well supported by volunteers, particularly chefs who donate their time to create meals at an affordable cost.
“Our team thoroughly enjoyed the experience – and I’ll certainly be going back,” Edward said.
