Black Friday – what you need to know.

Thursday November 28, 2019

Well Black Friday is almost here – but what will tomorrow look like and what do retailers need to know?

This is a day of sales and discounts – originating in America as the Friday following Thanksgiving.

It is a tradition more locations are jumping on board with, offering discounts as a way to launch into the busy retail period during the festive season.

Starting on the Friday, many retailers offer discounts for the full weekend, and wrap them up on ‘Cyber Monday’.

Many retail experts are suggesting that the forward promotion for the weekend, such as ‘sneak peeks’ or exclusive offers before Black Friday even occurs, is seeing a huge increase in the uptake of sales in November.

In fact Inside Retailer suggests that businesses in Australia saw a 46% rise in revenue in November of last year – attributing this growth to not only the earlier promotions for Black Friday, but also sales events such as Singles Day and Click Frenzy.

A person sees approximately 5,000 advertisements a day – and during the festive season this number is only likely to climb higher.
