Kathmandu
The Challenge:
Kathmandu are an outdoor and adventure apparel and equipment store with locations in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. With a strong link between their brand and the environment, Kathmandu take proactive action in areas of sustainability and needed a packaging solution that reflected their ethics and efforts in this area.
The Process:
At PaperPak, we value sustainability and pride ourselves on providing bags that are biodegradable, reusable, compostable and recyclable. Made from paper, the material that goes into our bags comes from sustainably managed forests. Kathmandu are positively impacting the environment in a variety of ways, from carbon offsetting at the Hinewai Reserve, to partnering with environmental organisations, to launching clothing lines to recycle materials that would otherwise have ended up in landfill. Our PaperPak team worked to create a bag to reflect the Kathmandu style and brand.
The Impact:
Designing a bag that reflected the Kathmandu brand and ethos, our team were able to provide a bag that fitted with Kathmandu customer expectations in sustainability and promoting the environment.
PaperPakās supply chain sourced sustainable paper which includes recycled paper into the stock that goes to make the Kathmandu bags. In addition, using water soluble glues and water based inks gives us at Kathmandu the confidence to tell our customers that our carry bags are sustainable, recyclable, and compostable.
